How to choose the best table for you

It is important for poker players to understand the importance of choosing the best table for them. When you know how to choose the table for you, you actually increase your chances for winning. It is easy to explain how you should pick the table right for you. You just always pick the table where you consider you might have an advantage. Always consider what you have to gain by joining one table or another. Do not forget that this is a chance game as well as a game for skilled people. Making the right choice can make the difference. You could be the ten-ranked player in the world, but if you choose the table, where the other players are ranked nine or above in the world, you will be out of luck. On the other hand, you could just as easily be one of the worst players in the world, but if you choose a table with weaker players, you will have a change at winning and gaining valuable experience.

Criterions by which you should choose a poker table:

1. How many players are considered less skilled at the game, their ranked. 2. The average value of the pot. 3. The percent of players that can see the flop ( in the case of Texas Hold'em and Omaha games) or fourth card in Seven Card Stud.

The average value of the pot should be at least twelve times the value of the small blind. When you take a sit at the table try to be to the left of the weaker players. This way you will have much to gain from their bad skills at poker playing. Strategy is all in this game; it can make the difference between a winner and a looser. In No Limit games, you can realize how good or high is the level of the game by the value of the pot. In case you like playing games No Limit, I suggest you are in a permanent search for tables with weak players. In this case, you will have the opportunity of winning the pot with only one hand. When you play online, this information is very accessible. You just need to know that you have to use it. It can be found in the lobby near the game. You can realize the level of the game by how many players get to see the flop. If this level is high, it means that the game is easy. In the case of Texas Hold’em you should look for games with at leat a 35% players that get to see the flop, the higher the better.

Permanent evaluation of the game

The pace of a game can change randomly. You must be permanently alert at the changes and not take some players for granted. Some may get lucky or other could improve their hands or skills right in the middle of the game. By permanently evaluating the game, you can make sure that the game is still a good one for you. If a table stops to be of good value, I suggest you change it, even if you are winning hands. While playing online poker you can change tables at once and you can observe the action at other tables. You can also ask the manager to sit you at another table. You have to learn to leave the table when you feel tired or bored. There are two things that can happen. There are some people that play long games, they try to keep playing at the same table for long periods of time. At one time or another they will get bored. The time between good hands will increase. Once you are bored it is a lot easy to say “call” in the hope for a lucky flop, then to stay concentrated on the game. The best advice is to play only when you know that you can fully concentrate on every move you make. Otherwise you will become more interested in lucky strikes disregarding a good game or concentration. Luck is not always the main advantage that you can have in a poker game. The second mistake and also a consequence of the lack of patience is putting high bets on already overtaken hands. For example let’s assume you have raised before a flop with two K-K. You got “call” from three players. The flop brought an ace (A) on the table. You bet again. One of the three players calls your raise, re-raise. Now you know that your hand has been beaten. Good players manage to renounce this hand, players without patience will continue to play the hand as if they had the highest card.
